Therefore, our packages are designed to address specific issues and can be tailored to fit you and your dog’s needs. The Top Dog Obedience Training Process
For our free consultations we come to you on a time that yourself and a member from our top dog team agrees on. We come and evaluate you and your dog to see what issues you may be having. All pricing is done in the consultation because we want to see if there are any temperament issues before giving you a quote. We want to get to know you and your furry friend to see what your goals are with training so we can correctly suggest a package that is best for you.
1. Free Consultation
When starting training your dog and top dog trainer will either start in front of your home or at a nearby park. We train with your dog Monday thru Friday for an hour a day during the beginning process of training we are mainly just focusing on getting your dog to do the commands with minimal distractions. This part of the training tends to be the longest out of any part of the training. We use positive reinforcement to teach your dog what we are wanting him or her to do.
2.Initial Training
Now that your dog has finished all of their commands in a more private setting we will take them out in public. Depending on your dogs issue is where we will focus more of our attention on. Typically we will go to a Home Depot/ Lowes to start their public training to see what your dogs will react to like sounds, people, or dogs. Once we have a good idea we will then take them to a dog park to get them socialized with dogs.
3.Ready For Public
Once we have finished all of the training with your dog we will now come back and work with you. We will go over everything during this process of the training including: how to use equipment, how to praise your dog, hand movements, and what commands go with those hand movements. Depending on what we call the transfer from your trainer to you is how long this process will take. Some dogs will actually be better with their owners while some need a lot of work.
4.Preparing You To Take Control
We see that this is the most fun part of the training for you! Once you understand the training we will start going anywhere the client wants out in public. Typically we will go to where you think would be hardest for you out in public like going to a mall or somewhere to that kind of area. The objective for this is for you to be confident out in public with your dog. In doing this once you feel comfortable in a high public area you can then do it any high public area.
5.Working With You In Public
This is the most important part of the whole training! While you are still working with your trainer you should be doing 30 min of train at least a day. The biggest thing you need to know is if you aren’t consistent with the training then your dog will lose the training. Once going through our course you are now part of the Top Dog family and we will always love to hear from you and see all the updates and good times that you have had with your pups because of the training!
